Hornets Hold On, Finish Mavs in Five

Photobucket

Chris Paul finished with a triple-double on Tuesday night -- 24 points, 15 assists, 11 rebounds and no turnovers -- as the Hornets beat the Mavericks, 99-94, to advance to the second round in five games. New Orleans won the first and last two games of the series, and with the defeat, Dallas was bounced from the playoffs in the first round for the second consecutive year.

The Hornets were in control in the fourth, leading by 17 with six minutes left to play, but let the Mavericks creep back to within three in the final minute. Up three with the ball, though, New Orleans grabbed a crucial offensive rebound and hit two free throws to ice the game with 5.7 seconds to play.

David West scored a game-high 25 for the Hornets and was joined by four other teammates in double figures, including Tyson Chandler, who scored 10 and added a game-high 14 rebounds. The Mavericks were led by Dirk Nowitzki, who scored 22, grabbed 13 rebounds and dished six assists in the loss. Seven players scored in double figures for Dallas.

New Orleans will face San Antonio in Round 2.

Marking the End of the Dynasty, Dallas and Phoenix had suffered heavy loses in their roster, for dallas, Van Horn and Harris, for Phoenix Shawn Marion, well I believe they have to bounce back again next year and make sure the best performance again rather than upsets.
