Having thwarted the Germans at Bastogne, the exhausted Easy Company must now take the nearby town of Foy from the enemy. Several are killed and wounded in fierce shelling, compounded by the incompetence of their commander, Lt. Dike (Peter O'Meara), about whom Winters (Damian Lewis) can do nothing. Easy takes Foy, but at an enormous cost.
January 1944Easy Company is entrenched along the outskirts of the german held town of Foy. Before Easy Company and others make their assault on the town, the company must survive the constant shelling. Joe Toye returns to the company but is wounded when the German Shelling begins, during a break, Guarenere helps him to a foxhole but more shelling injures them both. Buck Compton witnessing the carnage snaps and falls apart. During another attack, Luz witnesses Mucks and another officers death as their foxhole takes an direct hit. When the time comes for Easy to make their push, Dike, Easy Company's CO, freezes in battle and the company is slaughtered. Winters orders Lt. Speirs to go in and relieve Dike of command, Speirs proceeds to take command and then runs through the German lines to contact the other division and then runs back through them, a true Easy Company CO has finally arrived
Regarding the episode:
At this episode, Buck was pulled out of the line after suffering sadness regarding Joe Toye losing his leg, Guarnere same thing too, Skip Muck got killed and the rest of his friends in the company, due on that detail, Easy had lost a leader in combat, then winters thinks of who can replace him, he choses dike, Norman is doing wrong decisions, he had suffered the highest casualties during the Foy Raid, then Speirs Took over the platoon, and finished the business, afterwards a sniper cought on action and was shot by shifty powers, this episode was speirs' episode and lipton's too,
as you can see, how rude leutenant dike commands his men right here. he is not true leader, compared to speirs.
this episode is one of the favorites, i believe.
