In the second half, Kevin Garnett was second to none.

Garnett collected 26 points, 16 rebounds and three blocks while controlling the contest on both ends as the Boston Celtics remained unbeaten at home in the playoffs with a 96-89 victory Wednesday over the Cleveland Cavaliers to take a 3-2 lead in their Eastern Conference semifinal series.

Repeatedly sinking mid-range jumpers, Garnett scored eight points in the third quarter, when the Celtics shot 75 percent (12-of-16) and took control of the game. He also backstopped a defense that cooled off a red-hot LeBron James, holding him scoreless until less than a minute remained in the period.

The Celtics took a 72-63 lead into the final period and led by as many as 12 before holding on despite 10 points from James, who finished with 35 points. Boston improved to 7-0 at home in the playoffs.

James, who was 8-of-42 in the first two games in Boston, made 8-of-14 shots and scored 23 points in the first half, when the Cavaliers led by as many as 14 points. But the Celtics closed the second quarter with a 14-3 run highlighted by two 3-pointers from Rajon Rondo. That cut the deficit to 46-43, and Boston carried that momentum into the third period.

Paul Pierce scored 29 points - including 8-of-10 free throws in the final 83 seconds - and Rondo added 20 and 13 assists for the top-seeded Celtics, who overcame a stagnant start to shoot 48 percent from the field.

Delonte West scored 21 points and Wally Szczerbiak added 10 for the fourth-seeded Cavaliers, who were outrebounded, 38-30, and missed 13 foul shots.

Game 6 is Friday at Cleveland at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN. The Celtics will be gunning for their first trip to the conference finals in six years but are 0-5 on the road in the postseason.

I Watched the whole game in 3rd quarter i fell almost asleep because cleveland had made a blowout performance at third, with lebron's ankle bleeding, and z making jumpshots. also szczerbiak's clutch performances.

by fourth quarter the boston had made a threaten rally and cuts the lead into a 3 point lead only, then lebron manages and delonte too.

by the last mins, joe smith had managed free throw performances.

the Celtics are 6-0 in the road this Playoffs.

so Game 7 will held in the banknorth garden Boston massachussets.

Who Ever Wins. all i can say is.

SAY HELLO TO MY LITTLE FRIEND!!!!!
