Parting Shots
A lot went right for Boston, including very efficient performances from Garnett and Pierce in a series where offensive efficiency is going to be hard to find. Rondo, liberated by not having to worry much about a limited Billups’ ability to pound him physically, played at a high level. And the Pistons can expect improved individual games almost across the board. In other words, they should have the same gaping opportunity in Game 2 they were presented in Game 1 to take this series back to The Palace even. Game 1 might have been disappointing, but it was a long way from disheartening.
NUMBERS CRUNCH
7
That’s how many turnovers the Pistons committed in their fatal third quarter when Boston outscored them 28-17. They committed only four in the first half and 13 for the game. Thirteen is an acceptable number of turnovers, but on a night the Pistons didn’t have much margin for error with their offense stuck in neutral, that one bad flurry opened the door for Boston.
