Game 3 ends Celtics get their 1st road win
To win on the road in the postseason, you usually need strong games from your role players. In their first road win of the playoffs, the Boston Celtics got just that.
Kevin Garnett had 22 points, 13 rebounds, six assists and plenty of help Saturday as the Celtics regained home-court advantage with a 94-80 victory over the Detroit Pistons in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference finals.
The Celtics led by as many as 24 points and withstood a furious fourth-quarter rally by the Pistons to take a 2-1 lead in the series. Top-seeded Boston had been 0-6 on the road in the postseason and was coming off its first home loss in Game 2.
Garnett got help from Kendrick Perkins, who had 12 points and 10 rebounds; Rajon Rondo, who had 12 points and four assists; and reserve James Posey, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, the Pistons' stars struggled. Richard Hamilton, Chauncey Billups and Tayshaun Prince shot a combined 3-of-17 in the first half, when Detroit dug itself a 50-32 hole.
Ray Allen scored 14 points and Paul Pierce added 11 for Boston, which made 25-of-30 free throws and held a 44-28 rebounding edge.
Hamilton scored 22 of his 26 points after halftime and rookie Rodney Stuckey added 17 for second-seeded Detroit, which shot just 38 percent, including 1-of-13 from the arc.
Game 4 is Monday at 8:30 p.m. ET on ESPN.
It reminds me of the Indiana and Detroit Series. yep we lost at home same thing in the 2005 East Finals. but we prevailed.
Game 4 will be our crunchtime fellows.
lets get this show on the road.
